Moonface brooch in 15kt gold

On request

A Victorian brooch featuring a finely carved moonstone cameo of the Man in the Moon, set in 15kt gold and framed by natural Burmese rubies and old cut diamonds. Flanked by cabochon moonstones and mounted as a bar brooch, the piece captures a late 19th-Century fascination with celestial romance and the poetry of night. English, circa 1890. Sourced by Will Martindale, Classical Gem Hunter, a curator of historical jewellery pieces, based in Mayfair. Will is drawn to pieces with an authentic sense of beauty; he believes jewellery is made to be worn, held and lived in. These pieces were selected by Jonathan Anderson, bridging the worlds of antiquity and fine craftsmanship.
