She was born in London, but her childhood was spent in Cornwall and Lincolnshire. Much of her visual language, rooted in colour, form and rhythm, is inspired by her childhood on the Cornish coast. She studied at Goldsmiths’ College, London and at the Royal College of Art, London. She explored different styles; she began painting figure subjects in a semi-impressionist manner, before moving onto pointillist landscapes. In 1960 she began to explore the dynamic potential of optical phenomena. These Op-art pieces produce a disorienting physical effect to the viewer, as with this piece. Riley went on to teach at the Loughborough School of Art, Hornsey School of Art, and Croydon School of Art. Riley has exhibited internationally and widely since the early 1960s. Her work is held in museum and public collections worldwide, including the Arts Council, London; Tate, London; The Museum of Modern Art, New York; National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"JW Anderson","offers":[{"title":"O\/S","offer_id":48722037604452,"sku":null,"price":179200.0,"currency_code":"EUR","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0674\/5938\/3396\/files\/HW0440FA0723000_V1.jpg?v=1783604244","url":"https:\/\/jwanderson.com\/en-fr\/products\/revision-of-study-by-bridget-riley-1986","provider":"JW Anderson","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
