Crafted from Jasperware, a fine stoneware developed in the 18th Century, each teacup and saucer are formed by hand, then high-fired to create a matte, tactile finish. In 1964, British ceramicist Lucie Rie designed teacups and saucers for Wedgwood which were never produced. She personally wrote a letter to Wedgwood, expressing her interest in collaborating. At the time, the Wedgwood designers felt it would not be possible to reproduce her work. Now, Wedgwood will finally reproduce these pieces for the first time. This collaboration is a tribute to legacy and innovation, a continuation of Lucie Rie's vision, and JW Anderson's ongoing celebration of craft, artistry and design as cultural heritage.
